Mercy is home

A young couple went for a bike ride. The young woman wanted to stop to take a picture of the beautiful Indiana sky. When the couple stopped they heard meowing. They looked all around trying to find a cat or kittens and couldn't find any cat....until they looked up!

The couple tried to encourage the cat to jump but it wouldn't jump..."NO WAY Meow!" They were next to a road and someone in a truck stopped and said, "Hey, what are ya' doin'?" They told them there was a cat up in the tree and they couldn't get it down. The person in the truck said, "I have a 2 X 4 you can use." So they got the 2 x 4 out and propped it against the tree but the cat wouldn't walk down..."NO WAY Meow!"

So the young man bravely walked up the 2 x 4 and snatched the cat and brought it down....but it got away! It ran across the street and under the hood of a truck parked there. The young couple pursued the cat and somehow coaxed it out from under the hood of the truck. The young man then wrapped the cat in his sweatshirt, but that's not the end of the story.mercy the cat and her brave rescuer

They got back on their bikes with the cat bundled up in the sweatshirt and were discussing taking the cat to a shelter when they saw a police car. They were just about to flag the police officer down so he could take the cat to a shelter but the policeman stopped first. He rolled down his window and said, "Are you the ones that found the cat?" and they said yes. He asked to see the cat then he said, "This is my cat!! It's been missing for 2 weeks! My kids are going to be so happy." He told them the cat's name is Mercy. I wish I had a picture of the reunion, we'll just have to imagine the joy it brought to those kids.

Brave Sparrow

brave sparrow
There was a sparrow chirping in my garage all day.  I tried everything to get it out, but it wouldn't leave.  I opened the garage door several times, it wouldn't leave.  Every time I shut the garage door it would start chirping again.

"Chirp, chirp, chirp!"

Later in the day the chirping seemed slower. She was getting tired. I opened the garage door again, then I saw the little sparrow stuck behind the lace curtain in my garage, so I went and set it free.  While I was moving the curtain I could see two or three sparrows chirping on the other side of the glass outside, like they were trying to help the trapped sparrow. I realized then that the bird who chirped all day and wouldn't leave my garage was not the same bird that was trapped!  The bird that chirped all day was trying to sound an alarm
for me to help!!

She was really saying, "Help, help, help!!"

I kept thinking she was trying to build a nest in my garage, but no, she was trying to get my attention so I would help her friend.  As soon as I freed the little sparrow, they all left and the chirping stopped.

What a brave little bird to spend the whole day in a hot garage and refuse to leave because she wanted help for her friend.
